Art

Welcome to the art gallery!

I have been drawing ever since I was little, but hadn't made much progress in my skill until 2020. During the spike of COVID, and when everyone was mandated to stay at home I used that free time to intensely study things like anatomy, techniques, and exercises; I filled up at least 5 sketchbooks then, and have upwards of 10 filled beginning 2024. Having been inspired by other artists on the internet communities I'm a part of I am adding some more skills by exploring and trying my hand at costume making; known as cosplay. At the bottom of this page, you'll find my very first prop and costume debuted at Tekko in Pittsburgh in 2023! My upcoming cosplans (cosplay plans) are Qiao Ling from Link Click with a friend's sibling for Tekko 2024, and Rukia from Bleach.

This coming spring semester, I am scheduled to have a digital imaging course and will learn how to use the popular Adobe software Photoshop.

Here is a collection of artwork I have produced since 2021, digital paintings, traditional sketches, and paintings. My most comfortable medium for creation is using plain pencil and paper, so for digital paintings, I use Procreate on an iPad Air 4 most of the time. Sometimes I use Clip Studio Paint on a Huion drawing monitor.

2D Design Course Projects and Assignments

Project 1 (2023)

In this project I took two reference photos of myself for the portrait and the hand models. The portrait was rendered by stippling with a micron pen size 1, unfortunately I was not working on an easel and the canvas was large enough that my proportions got skewed. The hands were hatched with a micron pen size 0.1 and 0.5. At the bottom left was learning how to cross contour a banana using pen and marker, and the bottom right is a cross hatched mug using grey scale alcohol markers and grey brush pen.

Project 2 (2023)

For this project, I felt inspired by a fictional story and wanted to create a piece sort of about two characters from the story. I am less familiar with using other mediums and putting pieces together but this was a good experiment.

Materials used were paper, tissue paper, colored pencils, and reflective sheets. Rubber cement was used as the adhesive for the folded pieces of tissue paper as additional texture to the negative space on the left and right sides of the yin-yang symbol. The reflective sheet was cut out to demonstrate the sheen of the lower sword.

Project 3, Color Theory/Color Schemes (2023)

Each illustration was inspired by characters from an original story I have been brainstorming for about a year. There is significant resemblance to a popular story known as Avatar: The Last Airbender, however my story takes a different route. These five women, known as maidens, are the only ones capable of wielding magic or elemental magical abilities, and they are chosen by the guardians of each power. The elements are fire (guardian: dragon), water (guardian: sea serpent), earth (guardian: horse), metal (guardian: griffin), and space (guardian: raven).

Materials used were multi-media paper, pencil, colored pencil, copic markers, and liner pens. Color schemes used were complimentary for purple and yellow; analogous for red, yellow, and orange; triad for red, yellow, and blue; split compliment for green, orange, and purple; achromatic plus one color, yellow.

Project 4, Product Proposal (2023)

For the final project, I did a pitch for if the main character from my original story were to get an action figure designed after her. I used the Maiden design where she has her armor on, and the storyboard represents her receiving her abilities from the guardian of the power.

Ashentogh (ash-en-toff), is the name of the fantasy world, and currently, the story doesn't have a title so I came up with the name of the world it takes place in. If I were to make an image like the first one for each maiden, they would have their own blurb and bolded word that would connect to their lore and who they are, a word that they represent the most out of all the ways they could be described.

Materials used were paper, pencil, colored pencil, liner pen, and alcohol-based markers.

Cosplay and Crafts

Nicholas D Wolfwood

The first costume (2023) was put mostly together with clothes I arranged from my closet. The character's large cross is the first prop I've made, and I put it together using cardboard boxes, gauze table runners, and black ribbon.

I made this for Tekko, the anime convention that takes place in Pittsburgh in late July at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
